Physician Bio
We are pleased to introduce Deborah Lewis, LCSW, licensed clinical social worker.
She has a background in helping individuals and couples, with additional experience in family counseling. She has helped clients of all ages struggling with a range of issues, including grief, depression, anxiety, anger, substance abuse, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).Within the trauma spectrum, specific areas she has helped clients with include domestic violence, divorce, sexual assault, abuse, and homelessness.
When meeting with others, Deborah takes a strengths-based approach and seeks to empower clients as they work towards accomplishing therapeutic goals that are individualized to their own tailored treatment plans. She views the healing process as a collaborative endeavor that is dependent upon honest caring with absence of judgement. Treatment modalities that she has been trained in and uses the most in counseling include eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, problem solving therapy, play therapy, and grief and trauma therapy.
In addition, she is also trained in the world-famous Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), used for the treatment of trauma and PTSD, especially in veterans. And, she is trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). NLP tries to detect and modify unconscious biases or limitations of an individual’s map of the world. NLP is not hypnotherapy. Instead, it operates through the conscious use of language to bring about changes in someone’s thoughts and behavior.
When Deborah is not helping others, she enjoys reading mystery, fantasy, and sci-fi books, trying a new recipe every week, traveling, and camping. She also loves art and drawing and incorporates that into her therapy sessions as well.
