Physician Bio
We are pleased to introduce Stephanie Ortensi, family nurse practitioner (FNP-C), who has 13 years of experience as a nurse and is an oncology certified nurse. She works closely with Dr. Christian Shull in Blackfoot.
She began her oncology nurse career 10 years ago as an infusion nurse. She has worked with Dr. Shull as an oncology nurse navigator for the past seven years. She has experience in Med/Surg, ICU, and inpatient Oncology.
Stephanie assesses patients of all ages by performing a comprehensive history, physical examination, and appropriate diagnostic testing. She formulates plans to manage a patient’s condition medically and serves as a health information resource through interactions with patients and their families of all ages.
Specifically, she liaisons between patients, physicians, and healthcare facilities, assesses needs of oncology patients to improve outcomes, and provides referrals as needed to outside providers. She also educates oncology patients about disease, treatment modalities, side effects, and symptom management, assists with treatment planning, coordination, and scheduling.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan. Her board certification is through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
When Stephanie is not practicing medicine, she enjoys cooking, hiking, backpacking, and international travel. She and her husband have two sons and a daughter.
