We are pleased to introduce David J. Bilstrom, MD, Director of the International Autoimmune Institute & Bingham Memorial Center for Functional Medicine.
For nearly 25 years, Dr. Bilstrom has been a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He was an attending physician at a number of Chicago-area hospitals, served in private practice, and practiced at rehabilitation institutes throughout the United States.
As the Director of the Bingham Memorial Center for Functional Medicine and the International Autoimmune Institute in Blackfoot, Idaho, Dr. Bilstrom works closely with experts in a number of medical specialties to evaluate, diagnose and treat chronic and autoimmune diseases. Taking the mind, body, and spirit into consideration, he understands firsthand the benefits integrated medicine can provide to patients.
Dr. Bilstrom has extensive experience in Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine, Medical Acupuncture, Integrative Medicine, and Complementary and Alternative Medicines.
Dr. Bilstrom is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, and the Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. He lectures nationally and internationally on issues related to pain management, acupuncture, complementary medicine, and health and wellness.
He was the Founder and Medical Director of the Adaptive Sports and Adventure Program (A.S.A.P.) at the Charlotte Institute of Rehabilitation. Prior to coming to Bingham Healthcare, Dr. Bilstrom was the Medical Director at The Oasis Center for Health—one of the premier Functional & Integrated Medical Centers in the Midwest—in Hinsdale, Illinois.
When Dr. Bilstrom is not practicing medicine and helping to improve the lives of people suffering from chronic diseases, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, hiking, and traveling.
Professional Credentials
- Quadruple board certified in Functional and Regenerative Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Medical Acupuncture
- Attended medical school at the University of Illinois in Rockford, Illinois
- Completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado.
- He initially sub-specialized in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation, serving as Associate Director of the Spinal Cord Injury program at Charlotte Institute of Rehabilitation in North Carolina.
