Physician Bio

We are pleased to introduce James Goff, MD, fellowship trained and board certified in gastroenterology.

With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Goff diagnoses and treats disorders of the digestive tract, which include the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, gall bladder, liver, and pancreas (including anorectal disorders). His specialties include diagnosing and treating heartburn from GERD, abdominal pain, persistent nausea and vomiting, bowel habit disorders, peptic ulcer disease, liver, gall bladder, and pancreas disorders, swallowing disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, and hemorrhoidal disease.

In addition, Dr. Goff provides colon cancer screenings (e.g., colonoscopies and diagnostic colonoscopies) and upper endoscopies for the diagnosis and therapy of upper tract digestive disorders, such as a narrowed esophageal from acid peptic disease and eosinophilic esophagitis. He also offers screenings and treatments for Barrett’s esophagus (pre-esophageal cancer disorder), Helicobacter pylori infection and its complications of peptic ulcer disease, intestinal metaplasia (pre-stomach cancer disorder), and stomach cancers, if seen in the family.

Dr. Goff holds a Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington, and holds a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado.

He enjoys traveling with his partner, Jenn, and visiting with his son, his parents and his sisters family in the Boise area. He also loves spending time with his daughter who is in Minneapolis. He enjoys being on or around the water in the summer and doing some skiing in the winter. He is looking forward to improving his golf game if time allows.
