Physician Bio

We are pleased to introduce Melanie Wood, MD, double board certified in anesthesiology and interventional pain medicine and fellowship trained in interventional pain management.

Dr. Wood is passionate about helping those who come under her care and successfully managing their pain. She views her patients as a whole and therefore cares for them in a comprehensive manner, using interventional techniques, medications, physical therapy, and behavioral medicine when or if appropriate.

Before deciding upon a treatment plan, Dr. Wood takes a comprehensive approach by doing everything possible to determine the source(s) of a patient’s pain. She specializes in using the most advanced minimally invasive techniques for pain management, with a particular interest in neuromodulation, including DRG and spinal cord stimulation, and regenerative medicine. She also has special interest in headache and migraine treatment. She focuses on an opioid-free approach to pain management to improve patient’s quality of life and functional status.

Dr. Wood earned her Bachelor of Science in Biophysics from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her internship in general surgery was at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas, and her anesthesiology residency was at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. She then completed her fellowship in interventional pain medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

When Dr. Wood is not practicing medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. She also loves playing the piano, skiing, hiking, scuba diving, traveling, and reading.
