Physician Bio

We are excited to welcome Steven Behrendsen, D.O., FACR, to Bingham Healthcare’s outpatient rheumatology clinic. A board-certified rheumatologist with over 25 years of experience, Dr. Behrendsen brings a deep commitment to full-spectrum rheumatologic care and a strong history of excellence in both private practice and hospital-based settings across the Midwest and West Coast.

Originally from rural Colorado, Dr. Behrendsen describes himself as a “farm boy turned physician,” which reflects his approachable nature and genuine ability to connect with patients from all walks of life. He has recently recovered from spinal surgery and says he feels better than he has in over a decade—energized and eager to return to the work he loves. He is already looking forward to all that Eastern Idaho has to offer, especially the region’s world-class fly fishing.

Throughout his career, Dr. Behrendsen has held positions with leading healthcare systems, including Parkview Physicians Group, Lima Memorial Health System, and Metro Health. He is board-certified in Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, holds licenses in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, and is an active member of the American College of Rheumatology. He also served as a board member for the Arthritis Foundation’s Northeast Indiana Chapter.

Dr. Behrendsen has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications focused on cytokine activity in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and he has been consistently recognized for academic excellence and leadership throughout his medical training.
