Physician Bio
We are pleased to introduce Tyler Kunz, DO, a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician with a strong background in family medicine, emergency care, and athletic performance.
Dr. Kunz specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions affecting athletes and active individuals of all ages. His clinical expertise includes sports related injuries, joint and soft tissue conditions, concussion management, and ultrasound-guided diagnostics and injections. He provides both sideline and clinical care, working closely with athletes, trainers, and care teams to support safe return-to-play and long-term performance. His experience spans collegiate athletics, including serving as a lead physician for NCAA Division I athletes and providing coverage for football, basketball, and soccer programs.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kunz has demonstrated strong leadership and collaboration skills throughout his training. As Chief Resident, he played a key role in improving care delivery through policy development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentorship of junior physicians. His ability to balance high-level clinical care with team leadership reflects his commitment to advancing both patient outcomes and healthcare systems.
Dr. Kunz earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Rocky Vista University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences from Heritage University and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Brigham Young University–Idaho. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Idaho State University, where he further expanded his training through a Wilderness Medicine track, gaining experience in advanced and resource-limited care settings. He also completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Idaho State University.
