Not every doctor’s visit is an Annual Wellness Visit. These yearly appointments focus on your long-term health—not just treating illness.
They’re designed to help you and your provider work together on prevention, early detection, and a personalized care plan.
At your Annual Wellness Visit, you can expect:
- Review of your medical and family history
- Height, weight, and blood pressure checks
- Screenings for depression, memory, and chronic disease risk
- Guidance on healthy habits, diet, and physical activity
- A personalized prevention plan including recommended vaccines and labs
- Age-based screenings like:
- Mammograms (typically starting at age 40)
- Colon cancer screening (typically starting at age 45)
- Bone density testing (typically after age 65 or earlier if at risk)
During your visit, you can also talk with your provider about your risk for diabetes.
Lab work such as an A1c test may be available if appropriate. While not all services are included as part of an Annual Wellness Visit,
your provider will walk you through any recommended screenings or tests based on your age, health status, and family history.
Seeing your provider annually builds a strong foundation for better health—because prevention starts with a plan.
