CME Accreditation
Bingham Memorial Hospital’s (BMH) Continuing Medical Education (CME) program is pleased to announce that it was awarded four years of accreditation from the Utah Medical Association, in partnership with the American Council for Continuing Medical Education. This was the highest number of years that the CME program could be awarded. BMH first pursued accreditation for its CME program in 2006 when it first began to provide educational opportunities to medical providers at BMH and the surrounding areas. Following initial accreditation, BMH’s CME program began to work closely with the Graduate Medical Education and Quality Improvement (QI) departments. “These partnerships have added to the make-up of our CME committee and gave us an opportunity to enrich the education of our physicians, residents, students, and staff, as well as improve the quality of care we give to our patients” added Jake Erickson, CEO.
The mission of the CME program is to make continuing medical education freely available to an interdisciplinary audience, including providers, residents, medical students and hospital staff in Southeast Idaho. As described by the CME Program Chair, Dr. Roshan Patel, BHM’s CME program “strives to make CME not a chore or a check box but an outlet for healthcare professionals to learn, engage, and network to bettering patient care.” To optimize health care delivery the CME program uses both local and regional resources and expertise to offer high quality and compassionate care to our patients. We accomplish this goal by sponsoring educational activities that increase knowledge.
The CME program would like to acknowledge the strong support that we have received from our CME Committee, our entire medical staff, and especially the CME program chair. The success of the CME program is a product of the supportive environment fostered by BMH’s administration.
