Bingham Healthcare Orthopedics Earns Blue Distinction Designation for Higher Quality in Knee and Hip Replacement Surgeries

BLACKFOOT, ID – November 1, 2019 – Recently, Regence Blue Shield of Idaho and Blue Cross recognized Bingham Healthcare Orthopedics as a Blue Distinction® Center+ for higher quality knee and hip replacement surgeries, as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated healthcare facilities that show expertise in delivering improved patient safety and better health outcomes, based on objective measures that were developed with input from the medical community.

“We are extremely proud to be recognized by Regence Blue Shield of Idaho and Blue Cross for meeting the rigorous Blue Distinction Center+ quality selection criteria for knee and hip replacement surgeries set by the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program,” said Jake Erickson, CEO at Bingham Healthcare. “Any kind of pain from arthritis of the knee and hip can be debilitating. Our medical providers are exceptional at doing everything they can to enhance the quality of the lives our patients lead.”

Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies (BCBS) are helping to improve the quality and affordability of knee and hip replacements across the country through Blue Distinction®. This national designation makes it easier for consumers to find the best place to have a knee or hip replacement, recognizing hospitals and other facilities that improve the overall quality and delivery of care nationwide. Blue Distinction® healthcare facilities demonstrate expertise in delivering patient care safely, effectively, and cost-efficiently.

“This distinction demonstrates our commitment to quality healthcare, patient safety, and superior health outcomes for our total knee and hip replacement patients,” Erickson said. “And I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to ensure we would receive this prestigious distinction.”

More than 550 healthcare facilities have earned the designation for high-quality knee and hip replacements in most major metropolitan areas across the country. Healthcare facilities recognized with this designation are assessed using a combination of publicly available quality information and cost measures derived from BCBS companies’ medical claims.
