What could you and an ISU athlete have in common? Dr. Benjamin Allen

“Dr. Allen is an orthopedic and sports medicine specialist and the head orthopedic surgeon at Idaho State University. He is now welcoming patients in Blackfoot.”

Many people age comfortably and remain active, alert, and vibrant throughout their lives. Their physiological age may be quite younger than their chronological age. However, others may experience aches, pains, and injuries for a variety of reasons, which can gradually diminish their ability to participate fully in activities.

If you’re experiencing any signs of discomfort or pain that are keeping you from living life to the fullest, or from participating in your chosen sport(s), Benjamin Allen, MD, can help. In addition to seeing patients in Pocatello, he is now welcoming patients in Blackfoot. Dr. Allen is an orthopedic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in sports medicine. Specializing in many areas of orthopedic care for patients of all ages, he performs a variety of orthopedic surgeries and diagnoses and treats sports-related injuries.

One of Dr. Allen’s biggest passions is athletics, and his extensive experience in working in university athletic departments proves that. Before moving to Idaho, he served as a team physician for the University of Michigan, and is currently the head orthopedic surgeon at Idaho State University in Pocatello. His experience with high-level athletes helps him understand that injuries are something that can occur at any time while playing sports or participating in weekend activities like skiing, walking, hiking, or biking.

As a sports medicine specialist, Dr. Allen offers care in the following areas:

  • Sports-related injuries
  • ACL and other knee ligament injuries
  • Knee reconstruction
  • Meniscus injuries
  • Articular cartilage injuries
  • Labral injuries
  • Shoulder instability
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement
  • Fracture care and management
  • Sprains and strains

If you’re experiencing chronic discomfort or pain, and want to get to the bottom of what is causing it, schedule an appointment or consultation with Dr. Allen at (208) 785-2220 in Blackfoot or (208) 234-1960 in Pocatello.

You’ll be surprised what your body can do again when it stops telling you what you can’t do.
